Gavin and Mario Named Frontline Fellows
Food Oasis co-founders Gavin Amos and Mario Sanchez were selected to participate as Frontline Fellows, an opportunity that recognizes community leaders working directly on systems change and neighborhood-level impact.
For Gavin and Mario, the fellowship reflects the same work that has shaped Food Oasis from the beginning: building stronger connections between local growers, small food businesses, community organizations, and the infrastructure needed to help them thrive. Their work has focused on food access, entrepreneurship, distribution, storage, and creating more equitable pathways into the regional food economy.
The fellowship also creates space for Gavin and Mario to learn alongside other frontline leaders, share lessons from Food Oasis, and bring new ideas back into the work happening across South Seattle and the broader Puget Sound region.
For Food Oasis, the recognition is meaningful not simply because of the title, but because it reinforces a core belief behind the organization: lasting food-system change starts by investing in the people already doing the work in their communities.
