Food Oasis Featured in The Seattle Times

Food Oasis was featured in The Seattle Times as part of a broader story examining the opportunities and challenges facing farmers of color in Washington after the surge in demand and emergency food purchasing that came during the pandemic.

The article highlights a central issue behind our work: local farmers can grow incredible food, but long-term success depends on more than production alone. Reliable buyers, distribution, storage, aggregation, and stronger connections to institutions are all part of building a food system where smaller and historically underserved growers can compete and grow.

For Food Oasis, that challenge has continued to shape our mission. We are working to build the infrastructure that connects growers to communities, businesses, schools, and other buyers while helping more of the economic value generated by local food remain within our region.
